As online records proliferate, we know there are thousands (likely millions!) more that can
only be found the old-fashioned way—in-person. In-person research is that step that
ensures we're accurately reconstructing the family history we seek. Whether you're
heading to a genealogical library, research center, or a local courthouse, there's lots of prep
work—and things to keep in mind once you're there—that can make your research trip
more productive. Join our panel as they share their tips and tricks in “Preparing for In-
Person Research: How to Win Over the Record Keepers.”

Our panel includes moderator, Kelley Conner Lear, and panelists, Kaye Prince-Hollenberg,
and Megan Clark Young.

Kelley Conner Lear is a professional genealogist specializing in research in her home state
of West Virginia, her adopted state of Virginia, the Allegheny Highlands, and central
Appalachia. Kelley holds a Professional Learning Certificate in Genealogical Studies
(PLCGS) from the International Institute of Genealogical Studies. In addition to serving on
the Board of Directors of APG, Kelley also serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia
Genealogical Society.

Kaye Prince-Hollenberg is a professional genealogist based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
She specializes in Jewish Genealogy and Holocaust Research. A Librarian by day, Kaye is
also the Curator of the Margaret’s Legacy Holocaust Learning Centre in Hamilton and
writes a genealogy column for the Hamilton Jewish News. She is a member of the Board of
Directors for the Association of Professional Genealogists and is the JRI-Poland town leader for Korolowka and Zaleszczyki.

Megan Clark Young is the owner of MACY's Genealogical Research, LLC, and she is
employed as a forensic genealogist for a land development company. She has over twenty
years of experience researching her own Scots-Irish and Swedish lines in Pennsylvania.
