My genealogical career began in 1993 when challenged with completing my first child's baby book and being unable to document my father's lineage. This inspired me to investigate my own genealogy, which has evolved into a comprehensive professional practice spanning over three decades.
In 2011, I established the Facebook group "Mobile, Alabama Creole Connections," which eventually encouraged me to found the Mobile Creole Cultural and Historical Preservation Society (MCCHPS) in 2017. Under my leadership, the organization secured multiple grants in partnership with the Mobile Public Library Local History and Genealogy department for digital preservation education programs and historical lecture series.
My hands-on archival experience includes volunteer work at the Mobile County Probate Court Archives, collaborating with the late Coll'ette King to process and preserve historical records. In 2018, I accepted the position of Mobile County Representative for the Alabama Cemetery Preservation Alliance (ACPA).
I offer comprehensive genealogical research services with particular expertise in Mobile County and Alabama research, Gulf Coast Creole documentation, digital preservation techniques, archival research methodology, and family history education and consultation. I hold an M.Ed. in Collaborative Education, have served as Librarian and Registrar for my NSDAR Chapter Needham Bryan. I am a lifetime member of the Jamestowne Society, and serve as co-editor of Mumbo Gumbo: A Journal of Coastal Creole Culture and History and contribute a history column to the local newspaper, "Steppin' Out."
