2026 APG Professional Genealogy Symposium
Join APG and the Strathclyde Institute for Genealogical Studies (SIGS) for the first-ever Professional Genealogy Symposium on 24 June 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland and virtually. This one-day event will be led by industry experts from around the globe.
This event is open to ALL; you do not have to be a member of APG to register.
Programming is still being finalized, and the full program will be available in January 2026 at this link. As of 1 December 2025, we can confirm the following topics and speakers:
- Cross-Border Marketing Your Business (Andrea Bentschneider, John Boeren, and Chris Paton)
- Ethical and Legal Considerations: AI, Copyright, DNA (Dr. Sophie Kay, Helen Tovey)
- Beyond Research: Build and Grow Your Business (two-part interactive workshop) (Mia Bennett and Fiona Brooker)
- Your Business as a Genealogical Speaker (Annette Burke Lyttle and Cathie Sherwood)
Attendees will also have ample opportunity for networking, and discussion of key issues and field specialties, such as advocacy and forensic genealogy. Bonus recordings to watch at your leisure, including sessions on UK accounting practices and professional genealogical writing, are included with registration.

2026 Professional Genealogy Symposium Event Details
The Symposium will be followed by the SIGS’ two-day conference Beyond the Family Tree: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on AI, DNA, Education and Community in Genealogy on 25 and 26 June 2026. The SIGS conference will be interdisciplinary in nature and will explore a variety of topics, including genetic genealogy, history, and genealogy, with parallel streams featuring keynote presentations and guest lectures.
