After over twenty-five years of family history research, I attempted to locate the ancestral homeland of my maternal grandparents.  What I found were their interesting stories of hunger, strife, financial difficulties and finally prosperity.  Through DNA I have found my birth father and have subsequently met with "new" half siblings, cousins and some of their families.  As a result, I went from two full siblings to four half siblings, many new cousins as well as their descendants.  I was very fortunate to have had positive experiences as a result of this discovery and all have been very generous with their time and information.  While still connecting with my family the old fashioned way, I am also connecting with my genetic family.  I am looking forward to meeting new members of my birth family to learn more about our ancestors and visiting more of my ancestral homelands.
