I am a professional genealogist and published historian based in England (with dual Irish citizenship) with 20 years' experience researching family, local and social history. I specialise in detailed, evidence-based investigations, drawing on a wide range of sources including parish registers; civil registration records; census returns; probate records; land deeds; newspapers; maps and manorial records. By combining genealogical research with broader historical investigation, I help clients trace families back through the centuries and uncover the stories behind their ancestors providing extremely detailed reports.
My work ranges from straightforward family tree research to complex investigations involving property ownership, inheritance, migration, illegitimacy and elusive ancestors. As co-director of Heir Line Ltd, I am committed to producing accurate, thoroughly documented research that stands up to scrutiny.
I am the Honorary Secretary of Wakefield Historical Society and the author of Georgian Recipes and Remedies: A Country Lady's Household Handbook (2020). I am also co-author, with the renowned historian Peter Brears, of Bucklers' Yorkshire Buildings: The Architectural and Topographical Drawings of John Buckler and John Chessell Buckler of 1804–1820 (2026), a major study of early nineteenth-century architectural and topographical drawings of Yorkshire. These publications reflect my wider interest in historical research and the careful interpretation of original sources.
Whether researching a single ancestor or an entire family line, my aim is to provide well-supported conclusions, clear reporting and a deeper understanding of the lives and communities that shaped the past.
