My name is Marta Maćkowiak and I specialize in both family history research and locating documents supporting Polish citizenship confirmation cases. For over ten years I have specialized in Polish and Polish-Jewish genealogy, helping families from around the world rediscover their roots and locate archival records connected with their ancestors from Poland, including the territories of all three former partitions - Russian, Prussian and Austrian.
During my research, I work with records available both in local State Archives and online databases - depending on the accessibility of the documents. I primarily work with vital records (birth, marriage and death certificates), though depending on the location, time period and family history, I also research other sources such as residency files, war-era documentation, prewar newspapers, military records and more. Beyond genealogical expertise, I read historical records in Polish, Latin, Russian Cyrillic, German Kurrent and Hebrew. I also draw on databases such as MyHeritage and Ancestry wherever they support the process. If necessary, I cooperate with other genealogists in Poland, Ukraine and Lithuania.
I gained my experience through, among others, researching the history of my own family, working in the Genealogy Department of the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw and working together with clients from all over the world. For many years, I have successfully run my own genealogical business helping clients trace their Polish roots and family histories.
If you would like to explore your own family history, feel free to contact me - I will be happy to assist you.

"Marta is an amazing researcher. We gave her very little info as a starting point because we didn’t know much about the family back in Poland. Despite several unexpected complications (some records destroyed or nonexistent), Marta managed to find a lot of very interesting, relevant info. Marta responded very quickly to all of my questions, suggestions and comments. She was extremely professional and communicative throughout the process. I would strongly recommend her to anyone looking for help in tracing their Polish roots. Dziękuję, Marta! Our family is so grateful." Hilary
"Marta has been very helpful in discovering elusive Jewish roots in my family. With just some bits of data and family testimony to go on, she got back to me within two weeks with a full report confirming the Jewish identity of a particular ancestor, as well as the names of her parents and additional clues that Marta is still helping me work out! Consistent and patient correspondence with Marta and the affordability of her services are especially great bonuses: I cannot recommend her enough!" Filip
"Marta has done an incredible job in the research of my Jewish family. Without any leading record to rely on (except the magnificent Villa Felicia building), Marta managed to locate all family members names and and then tell their story, as was reflected in the records she found. Needles to say, most of them who stayed in Germany these years were murdered by the Nazis. It is important that the world will know and remember these innocent people through these small stories and photos. Therefore any publishing on this subject makes a huge contribution to the collective memory." Amos
"Marta helped me get family documents that I need to pursue citizenship. She was always nice and communicated with me well throughout the process. If I need any more documents in the future, I will go back to her!" Brandy
