Julie Mangano is a genetic genealogist with more than 20 years of genealogy experience. She specializes in using DNA evidence to solve complex family mysteries and resolving documentary contradictions  through genetic analysis.
Ms. Mangano’s client work focuses on genetic genealogy applications including:

  • Identifying biological parents and close family members
  • Breaking through genealogical brick walls using DNA evidence
  • Locating missing ancestors through DNA match analysis
  • Correcting errors in existing family trees
  • Resolving NPE (non-paternity event) cases

In addition to client services, she created the Commonalities Project, a research initiative examining connections among seemingly diverse individuals through shared ancestry, geographic origins, and historical experiences. This ongoing project includes more than 1,200 researched and sourced pedigree charts, detailed spreadsheets, maps, and analytical reports demonstrating how families intersect across generations and geography.
She also maintains a specialized focus on Volga German genealogy and created grimmrussia.org, a comprehensive online resource for descendants of the village of Grimm, Russia. The website helps researchers trace their ancestry from Russian settlements along the Volga River to their original German homelands.
Ms. Mangano studied genealogy research certificate programs at Boston University and the International Association of Professions Career College. She is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, the National Genealogical Society, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
