Taanshi! Janine dishinihkaashoon and I am here to help. I have been a dedicated student of genealogy for 15 years; my career and extracurricular pursuits have led to a desire to help repatriate individuals to their kin of years long passed. I am a Red River Métis woman and have specialized in assisting others in finding their connection to our homeland through my daily work. Apart from my career, I honour our ancestors by blending historic narratives and wisdom into art. As an artist I have been able to present harvesting practices into painted vignettes, as a musician I have been able to pair upbeat melodies to our endangered Michif language, as a photographer I have been able to capture the laughter of family picnics and the joy of toddlers in sashes, as a graphic designer I have been able to manipulate and revitalize photographs of my forgotten relations, and as a poet I have been able to express lyrically the wisdom of our elders with guided approach.
