Denyce is a genealogist with 30 years’ research experience, including 20 years as a professional. Her specialties are African Americans, research methodologies, evidence analysis and nineteenth/twentieth century investigations. She also lectures on diverse genealogical topics. Denyce holds completion certificates in “Advanced Methodology and Evidence Analysis” at the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR) 2017, ProGen31 study group, June 2016-November 2017, and “Genealogy Writing from Planning to Publication”, Midwestern African American Genealogy Institute (2018), and “Researching African American Ancestors: Court House Records”, virtual Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR) 2022, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Supervisory Management from Purdue University at Fort Wayne (1984).
Denyce recently served as Project Director for the Reckoning, Inc, Kentucky U.S. Colored Troops research project for three years, and is presently a Reckoning board member.
She is a member of the African American Genealogy Group of Kentucky (AAGGKY), Afro- American Historical and Genealogical Society, National Genealogical Society, Association for Professional Genealogists, Kentucky Historical and Genealogical Societies, and Sons & Daughters of the United States Middle Passage.
