Cairenn Binder is the Director of the Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG) Center at Ramapo College of New Jersey and a founding partner of Coast to Coast Genetic Genealogy Services. Cairenn has been at the forefront of IGG since its inception, applying genetic genealogy to identify human remains with the nonprofit organization DNA Doe Project from 2018 through 2023 and now as with Ramapo since 2022. Her casework has been featured on BBC news, ABC, NBC, Fox, Oxygen, and CourtTV, in addition to podcasts and digital media. Cairenn was featured prominently in NatGeo's Naming the Dead which premiered on Disney+ and Hulu in 2025.

She is a founding member of the Investigative Genetic Genealogy Association (IGGA), an advisory board member of the Investigative Genetic Genealogy Accreditation Board (IGGAB), and a member of the National Genealogical Society (NGS) and Association of Professional Genealogists (APG).

Cairenn co-authored the chapter on Investigative Genetic Genealogy in the NGS publication Forensic Genealogy: Theory & Practice. Additionally, she co-authored the chapter The Advent of Investigative Genetic Genealogy in Investigative and Predictive DNA Testing, an Elsevier publication.

Today, Cairenn takes on IGG casework for law enforcement at Ramapo College IGG Center while working on traditional and genetic genealogy cases at her small business, Coast to Coast Genetic Genealogy Services.
