Discover Your Swedish Heritage with Expert Genealogy Services
With fifteen years of experience in Swedish genealogy, I've helped clients around the world connect with their Swedish roots since 2020.
My professional work in genealogy was sparked by a DNA test, which highlighted the challenges faced by my international matches when researching their family in Sweden, given the country's unique history and records.
Based in Gothenburg—the departure port for 80% of Swedish migrants in the nineteenth century—the traces of emigration are ever-present. I work at Postgatan, where many emigrants spent their last days or weeks before departing for a new life.
Research Services
I specialize in short, targeted research projects, to enhance your family history with guidance through the Swedish records.
Services include:
- Translations of genealogy records and family history related documents, typically delivered within one week.
- Record retrieval, which can be combined with translations.
- Custom genealogy research services tailored to your specific needs.
Additional Offerings

- Self-study material on Swedish genealogy, supporting DIY researchers to independently navigate Swedish records.
- Online presentations on topics related to Swedish genealogy such as emigration history.
I specialize in Swedish research and can provide guidance or basic investigations for neighboring countries, such as Finland (with historical records in Swedish), Norway, and Denmark.
I found Annika during a careful online search and chose to work with her because the information on her site was transparent, thorough, and friendly.
I highly recommend Annika’s work. She was thorough and careful, and her communication, including delays while she waited to hear back from other sources, was consistently superb. I would hire her again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Annika!

We had gone as far back in our family tree as my amateur skills would allow as we do not speak or read Swedish. We wanted to know more about our ancestor who had emigrated from Sweden to the US in 1887.
Annika was a great communicator as the project progressed and the final report was well researched and organized. We were thrilled to get so much information about our ancestor and his life (family, work, travels, etc.). It was shared in a way that we could in turn download and print and/or share with others in the family which we appreciated!
Can't thank her enough for working with us on this valuable project! We look forward to working with Annika on other projects as we explore our Swedish lineage. I recommend her to anyone needing professional assistance to discover their Swedish roots.

Find a Swede was so helpful! I had come to a brick wall with my great, great grandfather in Sweden. Find a Swede was able to find him, and find both his parents.
I was given a report on their lives from birth to death, complete with translations and copies of all the records. It really brought them alive to me. It also led to more discoveries on that side of the family too. I never would have been able to do it on my own.
I will definitely use Find a Swede again in the future and recommend them to anyone researching their Swedish ancestors.
