Alaine Keisling is a document researcher with more than thirty years of genealogical experience, nearly two decades in business research and journalism, and eight years of applied DNA analysis. She also brings six years of proofreading and copy-editing experience, skills that carry over into her emphasis on clear, accurate reporting.
Now based in Philadelphia, Alaine focuses on the Mid-Atlantic region, with a special love for the coal-mining communities of northeastern Pennsylvania. She has spent more than twelve years building a long-term One-Place Study of the area, tracing families, migration patterns, and the community’s broader social history.
Her professional development includes more than a dozen advanced courses through GenFed, GRIP, IGHR, SLIG, TIGR, AppGen, the Family History Academy’s Masterclasses, and RLP DNA. Alaine’s training spans land and map analysis, advanced methodology, writing and editing, advanced DNA, and Catholic records. She has the Boston University genealogical certificate and is a graduate of both ProGen and GenProof.
Alaine is one of the organizers of the FORGEN study group and is currently pursuing ICAPGen accreditation in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic region. She is an active member of APG and its Mid-Atlantic chapter, where she has been on the board for the past three years and chairs the program committee.
