I am a professional genealogist and historian specializing in genealogical research in Portugal, with over ten years of experience working in archives and reconstructing family histories.

I hold a BA in Journalism and two Master’s degrees from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, including an MA in History. I am a collaborating researcher at the Center for the History of Society and Culture (CHSC), University of Coimbra, where my academic research examines the English community in seventeenth-century Lisbon.

My work is based on a strong familiarity with Portuguese archival sources. With academic training and ongoing local research in mainland Portugal, I carry out regular on-site work in archives and work closely with parish, civil, notarial, and other historical records.
I approach each case with careful source evaluation and attention to context. When documentation allows, my research can extend back to the sixteenth century and is particularly suited to complex problems involving older handwriting, early modern records and difficult lineage reconstruction.

Areas of Specialization

  • Portuguese genealogical research from the sixteenth to the twentieth centuries
  • Migration and emigration research within the Atlantic world (Portugal, including the Azores and Madeira)
  • On-site archival research in Portugal
  • Palaeographic transcription and historical document analysis
  • Brick-wall analysis and complex lineage reconstruction
  • Research documentation to support legal, academic and citizenship-related processes
