Announcing “New Voices,” A New Education Initiative through the APG Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee (DEI)
08 May 2024 by APG Webmaster

Do you have specialized knowledge about an indigenous, immigrant, international, or marginalized group that you would like to share with professionals in the genealogical community?

The Association of Professional Genealogists is excited to announce an upcoming new speaking opportunity—New Voices.

The purpose of this opportunity is to diversify the narrative in genealogical research by providing a platform for emerging voices in the field, particularly those focusing on under-represented communities. The goal is to create a series of educational webinars which aim to enrich the knowledge base of APG members, fostering a broader understanding of historical and cultural issues impacting genealogical research.

The Call for Presentations is open and the deadline for submissions for the first webinar is 31 May 2024 at 11:59 PM EDT. Presenters will be compensated at the current APG rate for a professional development webinar.

The proposed date for presenting virtually to our members is 24 July 2024.
Ready to submit? Submit your proposal here.

APG prefers new and original presentations tailored to professional genealogists. APG will prioritize member applications but will consider submissions from outside the organization. The DEI Committee offers its support to assist speakers new to presenting.

Deadline for submissions is 31 May 2024 at 11:59 PM EDT.

APG welcomes speakers from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to participate in our event. Committed to creating an inclusive environment, we value and respect diversity, and we will strive to provide accommodations to ensure that every speaker can fully contribute their unique insights and experiences.

The DEI Committee will carefully review all submissions and select presentations based on their relevance, innovation, and potential impact on the professional genealogy community. We look forward to receiving your proposals and creating an enriching virtual experience for our community.

Feel free to share this call with your contacts and others who may be interested. Questions? Contact Katharine O’Connell, DEI Committee member, at koc@northcoastgen.com.
