Since the 1980s, Thomas Koselka has pursued a lifelong passion for family history through research, education, leadership, and service to the genealogical community. A frequent lecturer and mentor, Tom enjoys helping genealogists uncover new records, overcome research challenges, and discover the stories of their ancestors.

Tom has served as President of the Detroit Society for Genealogical Research, the Michigan Genealogical Council, and the Dearborn Genealogical Society. Today, he continues to support the genealogy community as a board member, mentor, and advisor to several genealogical societies throughout Michigan. His presentations explore genealogy research strategies, Michigan records, archival resources, online genealogy resources—including the FamilySearch Wiki—and practical tools that help family historians of all experience levels make meaningful discoveries.

Tom is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, Ontario Ancestors, and the National Genealogical Society. His service to the genealogical community has been recognized with the Dziękuję (jen-KOO-yeh) Award from the Polish Genealogical Society of Michigan (2011), the President's Award from the Michigan Genealogical Council (2023), and the Award of Merit from the National Genealogical Society (2024).

After retiring from Dearborn Music, Tom continues to research family history, present educational programs, and encourage others to discover, preserve, and share their own family stories. He and his wife, Valerie, who shares his enthusiasm for genealogy, reside in Westland, Michigan.
