Hi! I am Tanya Teat Foreman and I am a professional genealogist, historical researcher, and educator specializing in African American ancestry. As founder of Family Matters Genealogy LLC, I help individuals uncover and preserve their family stories through evidence-based research, personalized reports, and engaging seminars.
With advanced training from Boston University and a Master’s in Public History, I bring historical evidence to life through engaging, personal stories. I'm proficient in the regions of New England, the Southeast, and the Caribbean, and includes DNA analysis, historical documentation, and community education.
I have led masterclasses, held presentation at libraries and museums, and currently serves on the America250 Planning Committee. My presentation is Black Patriots of the American Revolution, specific to my county. I am in the process of co-authoring a workbook, Blueprint for Life: Organizing Your Legacy with Ease, which empowers people to structure and share their life stories with clarity and heart.
She is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and an active contributor to historical preservation efforts in Onslow County.
