I became a part-time genealogist after retiring from my 30+ year career as an IT professional at IBM, Lotus Development and Harvard Business School. My clients are mostly relatively new to genealogy, and I enjoy educating them as well as solving their research questions. One specialty of mine is building family history websites for clients, similar to my own at https://shartwell.com/my-ancestral-stories.html. Another specialty is locating ancestor stories in old newspapers. I have also solved DNA mysteries, located ancestral villages in Ireland, Norway, Sweden and Bohemia (now Czech Republic), assisted with book publication, and helped organize family reunions. I have experience presenting at local genealogy conferences as well as club meetings and family gatherings.

I prefer to work in blocks of 5 or 10 hours and meet with clients on Zoom. See my website at https://shartwell.com for rates and feel free to contact me via email with your interests and questions.
