Based in Berkshire, U.K., I offer services in genetic genealogy/DNA research, traditional family history (both digital and archival) and palaeography. A former cancer research scientist, I hold a D.Phil. in Systems Biology from the University of Oxford, where I also trained in DNA extraction & analysis. I'm an experienced, award-winning international speaker and am also qualified in Latin translation.

In addition to my private client work, I'm the Ancestry and Genealogy Expert (both on- and off-camera) for the popular archaeology show, Time Team, where I get to dovetail archival and genetic genealogy research with my colleagues' archaeological finds, potentially working between the 14th and 20th centuries. I also bring my DNA expertise to the fore as Scientist-in-Residence for The Mixed Museum, through a programme of research and educational outputs which help people to identify and trace their parents or grandparents through DNA testing.

My special interests include genetic genealogy, death records, ancestral mapping and historical occupations, but I'm willing to consider commissions across a broad range of topics.
