Shelby Jean Roberson Bender is an eighth-generation Floridian and shares her interest in history and preservation with her family, friends, and community. She conducts workshops and seminars and is also a member of the Florida State Genealogical Society, Huxford Genealogical Society, Florida Historical Society, Society of Florida Archivists, Association of Professional Genealogists, Association of Gravestone Studies, and other historical and genealogical societies.
Shelby is the Executive Director and President of the East Hillsborough Historical Society. She serves on the Hillsborough County Historic Preservation Challenge Grant Panel and is Chair of the City of Plant City Historic Resources Board.
Shelby has an Associate of Arts Degree from Hillsborough Community College,
a certificate in Non-Profit Management from USF, and a Bachelor of Arts in general studies from St Leo University. With over 45 years of research experience in genealogical and historical research, Shelby enjoys collaborating with patrons and clients and helping them to continue their journey of discovering and documenting their family history.
