    Hi, I'm Patty Campanelli, a professional genealogist with more than 24 years of experience in genealogy research. I am also a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution,) a lineage society for female descendants of Revolutionary War patriots. I first became interested in genealogy after my father passed away. He always encouraged me to consider joining the DAR, even though we were unsure of our connection. After a few years of research, I was able to join the DAR in 2004. After being part of the DAR for a few years, I became my chapter’s registrar and started helping others with research and sourcing their applications. Through this experience, I ignited my passion for helping people connect with their heritage and family roots. Reconnecting with my own family has been an incredibly rewarding part of my journey.  Genealogy has become as much a part of my life as anything I do.   
    In 2017, I worked on my first client's DNA case: the adoption of my maternal grandmother’s cousin. Although both of them had since passed, I was able to work with the cousin’s daughters to figure out who their maternal grandmother was. This was the moment it all came together for me, my love for DNA was immediate. Since then, I have worked on many adoptions and NPE (not parent-expected) cases with AncestryDNA among other testing companies. While working with a friend, I realized just how much this work fulfills me. I love a good puzzle, It’s amazing as the pieces of the past come together, they can narrow down almost every situation to a single possibility. Genealogy is in my blood.
    I started Relatives and Roots to help people find the answers to the questions that they have. Who are my biological parents? Who were my dad’s biological parents? Why doesn’t my DNA match my relatives? How far back in America do my roots go? How do I find the documents I need to join a lineage society? I visit many different repositories. Need help from NJ?
