I am a professional genealogist based on Vancouver Island, BC, with more than thirty years of experience in family history research across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and Spain.

I work with primary sources in multiple languages - English, French, German, Dutch, Spanish, and Latin - and read handwritten historical records from many centuries, including the older German scripts (Sütterlin and Kurrent). My analytical approach to evidence and sourcing has been recognised through WikiTree's pre-1700 and pre-1500 certifications, awarded to researchers who demonstrate rigorous standards in identifying and correctly interpreting reliable historical sources.

Identifying documents for Canadian citizenship-by-descent cases under Bill C-3 is a strong current focus of my work. I also offer complex-case work involving conflicting evidence or broken lines, and integrate DNA evidence with documentary research - including cluster analysis and shared cM interpretation for adoption searches, misattributed parentage (NPE), and cases where the paper trail has broken down.

My reports place ancestors in the social history of their time. When I write that a great-grandmother in 19th-century Quebec buried eight of her thirteen children, that a German ancestor in 1654 donated an oak from his land to rebuild the local church after a flood, or that a Yorkshire boy who started on the factory floor of a bottle works went on to found Bagley Glass, these details do more than fill out a page. They turn names on a family tree back into people.

I work directly with individual clients, but also welcome subcontracting arrangements from colleagues whose cases lead into my areas of specialisation.
