I am the founder of KB Family History and a professional genealogist with more than 30 years of family history research experience. I help individuals and families answer difficult questions about their ancestry through careful research, evidence analysis, source documentation, and clear written conclusions.

My research services include family tree and ancestral research, genealogical mysteries and brick walls, military research, DNA and genetic genealogy, biological-family research, heir and forensic genealogy, and historical records research.

My geographic research experience includes the United States, with particular experience in Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and the Mid-Atlantic region. I also have experience researching Italian immigrant families and records connecting families in the United States with their European origins.

I approach genealogy as an evidence-based research process rather than simply collecting names from online family trees. I work with census, vital, probate, land, court, military, pension, immigration, naturalization, cemetery, newspaper, and other historical records, correlating information from multiple sources when necessary to resolve conflicting evidence and difficult identities.

DNA research can include analysis of DNA matches, shared matches, family trees, documentary evidence, and other genetic-genealogy methods to investigate biological relationships and identify potential family connections.

Clients receive organized research results explaining what was searched, what was found, what the evidence supports, and what research should be considered next. Sources are documented so that findings can be independently reviewed and followed.

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies from the University of Strathclyde and the Professional Learning Certificate in Genealogical Studies (PLCGS) in American Records and DNA & Genetic Genealogy from the International Institute of Genealogical Studies.

Research is conducted remotely for clients throughout the United States and elsewhere.
