My genealogical journey began in 1975 when my bride's grandmother asked me to complete a pedigree chart for my family. I suddenly realized I didn’t know very much about my ancestry. Now, after decades of tracing my family history, innumerable hours of research, visits to record repositories and cemeteries around the country, and participating in a myriad of both scientific and genealogy-related classes, conferences, seminars and webinars, my focus is on providing research assistance to others and sharing what I've learned. My professional career included many years as a college professor teaching a diverse spectrum of courses including genetics and molecular/microbiology. My work as a biomedical scientist also included both technical training and professional experience in the legal applications of testing for genetic markers to determine paternity and family relationships. Consequently, my research today often includes both traditional documentary sources and the use of DNA testing to help prove a lineage or break down a brick wall.
