Dawn began learning genealogy as a young child, alongside her mother who in cemeteries, libraries and courthouses.  Her quest to learn genetic genealogy began when DNA tests became commercially available, as her mother, who was adopted and had met her biological mother through a birth registry, had always wanted to know who her biological father was.  This began her quest to learn how to understand matches, reading Dana Leeds and watching endless Blaine Bettinger videos.  This led to volunteering as a search angel, both with family and friends as well as with organizations before Dawn began offering her services professionally.
