I'm Daniele Sedda, a young archivist and genealogist based in Milan, Italy. Over the course of more than six years, using various freelancing platforms as well as my own website, I have helped countless people reconnect with long-lost relatives and with their family history all over Italy. Because, deep down, you are your roots- and my goal is to help you explore them!

Though I live and work in Milan, in the beautiful Italian region known as Lombardy, I don't have limits in what I can search: I have personally researched families from Vallée d'Aoste to Sicily, and I always love new challenges. On top of covering the whole territory of Italy, I also research in areas that have historically been part of an Italian state but are not anymore, such as the area of Savoy (Haute-Savoie and Savoie), the former County of Nice (Pays Niçois), Istria (Istarska županija), the Slovene Littoral and the region of the Carso (Slovensko Primorje), Fiume (Rijeka) and some parts of the region of Dalmatia (Dalmacija). I have also successfully researched various families from the island of Malta, that historically links to the Sicilian territories.

"It was great to work with Daniele. He is responsive and excited, which made me even more eager!"

"My experience was fantastic. I would not change a thing."

I specialise in researching people of Italian descent around the world.

With the help of Valentina and Elisa, two amazing girls who founded the Associazione Genealogica della Sardegna (AGdS, Genealogic Association of Sardinia), I have hosted an online introductory genealogy course titled Genealogiamo, a beautiful blend of the Italian words for "genealogy" and "love" throughout the years 2024 and 2025. The project will be repeated next year, as well.

On October 18, 2025 I took part in the Secondo Incontro Genealogico Sardo as a guest lecturer: my intervention revolved around an in-depth analysis of the forms and functions of notary registrations and records in Sardinia, Italy during the 18 and 19th century.

In addition to my native Italian, I speak three of the major European languages: English, German, French, and a regional language known as Sardinian. I also fluently read Latin and the notorious German cursive writing called Kurrentschrift, and have a working knowledge of Portuguese and Spanish.

I am a member of the Associazione Genealogica della Sardegna (AGdS, Genealogical Association of Sardinia) and have been a collaborator since its founding in 2024, and I am a volunteer guide for the Milan chapter of the Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI, National Trust for Italy), the biggest organisation dedicated to preserve and enhance Italy's rich historical, cultural and environmental heritage. I am also eager to learn about other cultures and I engage in Le Fil d'Ariane, a collaborative French genealogical association. On top of that, I am involved in various initiatives of indexing and describing Italian records via FamilySearch as well as other platforms.
