I am a professional genealogist and the owner of Murphy Genealogy Research, specializing in family history research in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, as well as Irish immigrant families. I work with clients to reconstruct the lives of their ancestors through careful analysis of historical records, local history, and the communities in which their families lived.
I believe successful genealogical research requires more than searching online databases. Records may be scattered among courthouses, archives, libraries, churches, historical societies, and other repositories—or may not have survived at all. I approach each project by evaluating the available evidence, identifying additional sources, and connecting information across records to develop a well-documented picture of an individual or family.
My services include traditional family history research, difficult genealogical problems and “brick walls,” and lineage society applications. For clients seeking membership in hereditary and lineage organizations, I help connect generations and assemble the documentation needed to support a lineage.
I also offer consultations for researchers who prefer to conduct their own genealogy but need help determining their next steps. Whether the challenge involves organizing years of research, developing a focused research plan, evaluating conflicting evidence, or deciding how DNA results might help a genealogical question, I can work with you to develop a clearer strategy to move the research forward.
