As the founder of Diggin' for Clues, I believe professional genealogy is about more than discovering records. It is about asking thoughtful questions, evaluating evidence carefully, and helping clients understand the people behind the names in their family tree.

I help individuals and families discover, document, and preserve their family history through thoughtful, evidence-based genealogical research. Whether you're beginning your family history journey, trying to solve a long-standing brick wall, or hoping to preserve generations of family stories, my goal is to provide research that is organized, transparent, and understandable.

Every project begins with a clearly defined research objective and follows a thoughtful, methodical process. I explain not only what the records reveal, but also how the evidence supports each conclusion, where uncertainty remains, and what additional research may be possible. Clients receive professionally documented research written in plain language—reports designed to be read, understood, and shared with future generations.

My research interests include family history, military records, immigration and naturalization, probate and heir research, house and local history, and oral history. I also enjoy consulting with fellow genealogists, helping clients organize their research, and teaching genealogy through presentations, workshops, and community education.

I am committed to accepted genealogical standards, lifelong learning, and continual professional growth. Every project is approached with careful planning, honest evaluation of evidence, clear communication, and respect for each client's time, goals, and budget.

Above all, I believe every family deserves more than a collection of names and dates. Every family deserves to understand the stories that shaped the generations before them.

Geographic Research Interests: North Carolina (with particular experience in Wake, Chatham, Durham, Granville, Orange, Johnston, Person, Franklin, Caswell, Iredell, and Alexander Counties); Colonial Virginia (including Nansemond/Suffolk, York County, Jamestown, and Williamsburg); Alabama migration research; South Carolina; and other U.S. research projects as requested.
