APG Member Pricing Survey Now Open
9 October 2026
In 2018, Kate Eakman conducted a pricing survey among APG members. The survey consisted of ten questions and provided valuable information on hourly rates for traditional genealogists. APG provided its support and resources, and Kate presented the results at that year's Professional Management Conference. She followed up with an article in the March 2019 issue of APG Quarterly, “We Charge How Much? The 2018 APG Professional Research Fees Survey Results.”
Times have changed quite a bit since then, and so have salaries, prices, and income. To that end, APG has launched a new Member Pricing Survey to capture more recent data from members. To begin the short survey, click the link below or go to https://members.apgen.org/members/forms/form.php?fid=11523139. Login is required.
In addition to the standard questions about number of years working as a professional, number of billable hours per week, and education/credentials, the survey also seeks information on traditional research services, writing, speaking services, and record retrieval. There is also an area for members to share other information relevant to fees and pricing in local markets and regions.

The survey closes on 31 October 2026. Members cannot complete the survey more than once.
All responses will be aggregated and anonymized before any data is shared with members on the APG website in a password-protected section.
Thank you in advance for your participation!
