Now Seeking Recommendations for APG Board of Directors and Nominating Committee
6 August 2024
The APG Nominations Committee urges all members to recommend candidates for the leadership of APG, including six members for the Board of Directors, and two members for the Nominations Committee.
Deadline for recommendations to any of these positions is 25 August 2024.
Under our bylaws, six persons will be elected to serve a two-year term on the Board of Directors beginning 1 January 2025. Two persons will be elected to serve a one-year term on the Nominations Committee beginning 1 January 2025.
You may recommend yourself. Recommendations should be sent to the Nominations Committee at admin@apgen.org.
Please include each recommended person's contact information and their consent to be recommended. A statement of qualifications is helpful but is not required.
Board members must be APG members in good standing who joined before 1 August 2023. Board members should have some knowledge of the association's goals and procedures and a strong interest in the welfare of APG and professional genealogists worldwide. Board members cannot be contractors to APG during the time that they serve on the Board.
Click here for a list of current board members. The Nominations Committee will prepare a list of candidates by 15 September. The election will be held in late October.
Board members should:
- be familiar with our bylaws, and read the APG Policies and Procedures (you must be logged in to access these pages);
- make every effort to attend the virtual quarterly board meetings;
- come prepared to board meetings, having read all minutes and communications;
- respond in a timely fashion to email votes;
- serve in at least one other APG capacity besides that of board member;
