Biography:
My journey started in 1980. My friend asked me to help his cousin research his genealogy. Bruce worked a lot of overtime and his wife, Regine was Belgian and not fluent in English. So, Regine and I went to the local library and started! And boy, what a start! We traced his family back to Switzerland. Regine made a trip home and met the cousins who knew a brother went to America , but nothing else. I was hooked! I now realize my first venture into genealogy was for a CLIENT! How unusual! All the forms and charts soon piled up. But how to get a report? I turned to my new TI-994A home computer. A call to the local College Computer Programming department led me to Pascal. Many early mornings later Genealogy Workshop was born! The following years brought me full circle, - as my skills developed, and my network of cousins widened, I learned that the skills I used in my professional life directly transferred to genealogy. Education, processes, procedures, quality, security and most importantly team building all are the foundation of research. This quickly led me to the realization that genealogy builds friendships. All this was before the internet was available to the public! Almost 40 years after that first client, I am still sharing my wisdom, breaking down walls with the power of DNA, and promoting teamwork and comradery in an oftentimes lonely pursuit of our ancestors.
