Biography:
Surrounded by genealogy from a young age, Pamela has long appreciated the richness that learning about your heritage and ancestors can bring. Leveraging her own family stories, Pam approached her brother, a Germanic linguist, to be her first translator and, and launched Unlock Your History to help people translate their heirloom family documents from German and Germanic languages. She creates a personalized Journey Book that focuses on story-telling and maintaining the emotional connection that family documents inspire and deserve. Pamela is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, the Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society and the North Hills Genealogical Society.

Service Description:
Unlock Your History focuses on story-telling and maintaining the emotional connection that old family documents inspire and deserve. We help people along a marvelous journey: one that begins with a tantalizing, but frustrating family document. It could be a postcard, an old passport, a will, an invitation or obituary. It may have been handwritten by a recent or long-departed ancestor. It's certainly in another language. We call it genealogical translation, but it's so much more meaningful than that. Unlock Your History specializes in Germanic languages (German, Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Icelandic, even English from earlier centuries) to help families translate and understand the context of their enigmatic documents
