Biography:
After over twenty years as an entrepreneur and marketing consultant, Alexa transitioned her personal passion for family history to her profession, launching Archway Genealogy. Deepening her skills as a professional genealogist and historian, she earned a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University in 2018, after completing BU's Genealogical Essentials course the previous year. In August 2018, Alexa received a certificate in Advanced Genetic Genealogy from groundbreaking Genetic Genealogist, CeCe Moore, at the the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh (GRIP). Alexa is also currently a chat leader for ProGen Study Group 38, a peer group organized to support professional and aspiring genealogists.

Alexa has deep academic roots in the fields of History and American Studies. Captivated by history since childhood, Alexa pursued a Bachelor s in History with a Certificate in the Program in American Studies from Princeton University in 1995, winning the C.O. Joline Prize in American History and the Williard Thorpe Thesis Prize, as well as the 1996 Undergraduate Writing Award from the Law and Society Association. Her studies brought her to Baltimore where, in 2003, Alexa earned a Master's in History from the Johns Hopkins University, specializing in U.S. History, Women's Studies, and Popular Culture.

Alexa serves as an At-Large Board Member of the Maryland Genealogical Society, Membership Chair of the Virtual Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), and Maryland chapter lead for the new Virtual Genealogical Associaition (VGA). She is also an active member of the National Genealogical Society (NGS), the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS), the Utah Genealogical Society (Virtual Chapter and DNA Special Interest Group), the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG) and the National Area Chapter of APG.

When not keeping up with the latest developments in genealogy at conferences, workshops, or online, Alexa enjoys hanging out with her husband and two teenage daughters. She can frequently be found operating her own "MomUber" service, shuttling between high school and extra-curricular activities around Charm City.
