Alexa Klimas Corcoran has deep academic roots in the fields of History and American Studies. Captivated by history since childhood, Alexa pursued a Bachelor s in History with a Certificate in the Program in American Studies from Princeton University in 1995, winning the C.O. Joline Prize in American History and the Williard Thorpe Thesis Prize, as well as the Undergraduate Writing Award from the Law and Society Association in 1996. Her studies brought her to Baltimore where, in 2003, Alexa earned a Master's in History from the Johns Hopkins University, specializing in U.S. History and Women s Studies.

After a twenty-year career in marketing, Alexa transitioned her personal passion for family history to her profession, completing the Boston University Genealogical Studies program (Genealogical Essentials in 2017 and Certificate in Genealogical Research in May 2018). She is an active member of ProGen Study Group 38, a collaborative learning group for professional and aspiring genealogists.

Alexa joined the Board of the Maryland Genealogical Society in June 2018 and is the Maryland chapter lead for the new Virtual Genealogical Society (VGS), as well as a member of the National Genealogical Society (NGS), the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS), the Utah Genealogical Society (Virtual Chapter), the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG) and the National Area Chapter of APG.

When not keeping up with the latest developments in genealogy at conferences, workshops, or online, Alexa enjoys hanging out with her husband and two teenage daughters. She can frequently be found operating her own "MomUber" service, shuttling between high school and extra-curricular activities around Charm City.
