Biography:
A lifelong family historian, Rachel began with her own Eastern European heritage, and has been a passionate genealogical researcher for over 15 years. Today, Rachel specializes in Jewish genealogy in the United States, Canada, and modern-day European countries which formerly comprised the Pale of Settlement and Congress Poland within the Russian Empire, the Austrian Empire/Galicia, and the Kingdom of Prussia (namely, Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Romania, Austria, Czech Republic, and Germany). With a background in Hebrew, Yiddish, German, and Czech language studies, she has a distinct advantage when it comes to reading and interpreting vital records, Yiddish/Hebrew signatures, and Hebrew headstones -- a necessity in Jewish genealogical research. An expert in the use of online and technological resources, Rachel's advanced computer skills open up an entire universe of records and indexes, saving her clients the added expense of time and travel to records repositories. She is a regular contributor to the AncestorCloud blog, and her writing has also been featured on the popular website FamilyHistoryDaily.com. Rachel has a Bachelor's Degree (Magna cum Laude) from New York University.
