Biography:
I have always had a passion for learning about the history of my family. I have been researching my family in western Pennsylvania and Maryland in earnest for the past 10 years. I have used all types of documents in my research, including censuses, pension files from all wars, immigration files, deeds, wills, PA colonial tax lists and newspapers. The Genealogical Proof Standard forms the basis of all my genealogical research, and this involves documentation and in-depth analysis of all sources. I have access to many resources, both in print and online. These include Ancestry.com (world subscription), fold3.com and accessiblearchives.com, as well as local libraries and the National Archives (including branches). In addition to having completed all 3 courses of the Daughters of the American Revolution Genealogical Program, I earned a certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University on April 28, 2014. I also completed Civilly Uncommon: Advanced Legal Analysis for Genealogists, an intensive course offered by Boston University and taught by Judy G. Russell, JD, CG, CGL and Benjamin B. Spratling III, JD. In addition to family history, I have been a full-time German --> English translator since 2005. I am a current member of the National Genealogical Society and the American Translators Association).
