Biography:
Deb Root Shell is a retired archivist and librarian. She worked for many years as a manuscripts cataloger and processor at a large genealogical library and as a public library reference librarian. Deb currently enjoys work as a genealogical researcher and writer, and has had articles published in a number of magazines, journals, and newsletters. In 2014, she was the winner of the Ohio Genealogical Society Writing Contest. Deb is a member of numerous genealogical and historical organizations; including NGS, OGS, NEHGS, Palatines to America, MAGS, the Ohio History Connection, and many county-level genealogical chapters and historical societies. She is also a member of OGS First Families of Ohio and Society of Civil War Families of Ohio; and First Families of Washington County [OH]. She is currently the Chair of the Society of Civil War Families of Ohio and Chair of the 2017 Writing Contest, Ohio Genealogical Society. Other positions include that of 2nd Vice President, Greater Cleveland Genealogical Society.
