Ginger Smith is a genetic genealogist specializing in genealogical research in North Carolina and Virginia and using DNA testing to learn more about family history. She holds a BS in Biology and an MLS in Library and Information Sciences. She has been doing family history research for several years and has extensive experience in North Carolina and Virginia records and is a DNA consultant to adoptees and people interested in using DNA to break down their brick walls or learn more about their family history. In addition to performing genealogy research and DNA consulting, she also lectures and gives workshops on various topics. Ginger volunteers as the Vice President, webmaster, and journal editor of the Durham and Orange County Genealogical Society, administers two Y-DNA projects on FamilyTreeDNA, and administers a Facebook group for Godwin DNA cousins to share family history, photos, and DNA match results. She is active in the online DNA-Adoption and International Society of Genetic Genealogy (ISOGG) listserves as well as several DNA and genealogy-related Facebook groups answering questions about DNA testing. She is a member of NGS, NCGS, ISOGG and APG.

Service Description:
I specialize in analyzing and interpreting DNA results for clients, helping them decide what kind of DNA test to take, and how to apply DNA results to genealogy goals. I also perform research for clients at NARA, LVA, GA and NC State Archives, Duke Rare books, and UNC Special Collections. I can help clients build family trees and share with cousins or build it for them. I help clients organize their family history materials and photos, in addition to digitizing their photographs for them.
