Clients choose to work with professional genealogists for a variety of reasons. Your decision to employ a professional researcher is an excellent choice if you have an interest in discovering your family but are unfamiliar with the research process. If you are a more experienced researcher but are uncertain about record availability, or if you feel as though you have exhausted all available resources, working with a professional genealogist can be an exciting adventure. Why hire me? I understand your investment and our partnership: Your decision to hire a professional genealogist is a decision to make an investment, not just in money, but also in time and commitment to a joint project. In essence, you and I become partners for a while. I want you to understand the process and to be included in the project. I am committed to excellent research: I hold the Certified Genealogist credential; my work has been peer-reviewed and determined to meet rigorous research and quality standards. My genealogical research education is ongoing. I am a regular participant in educational forums and classes that provide advanced research methodology, record availability, time management, and historic and legal studies. I am diligent in my pursuit of any symposium that will make me as qualified as I can be to spearhead your project. My research adheres to accepted genealogy standards. I value your time: I respond to you in a timely manner. I answer your emails or return your phone calls promptly. Your time is just as important as mine. My promise to you is that I will be available during our project. I will answer your questions. Promptly. Period. I understand that you have worked hard for your money: I will not waste your money. If our project ventures into an area, whether it be cultural or geographical, and another professional would serve your needs better, I will refer you. I will not unnecessarily extend your project time. I am a native Georgian, invested in Georgia families: I was born in Georgia and all but one year of my life has been spent here. All of my lineages are Georgian, and I have several ancestors who served during the War of 1812 and Revolutionary War as Georgia soldiers. I understand southern families and ancestors. I am invested in Georgian research. Ethics are important: I abide by the Ethics set forth by the Association of Professional Genealogists, The Board for Certification of Genealogists, and the Genetic Genealogy Standards.
