I earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration in 1970 from Alabama State University, Montgomery, Alabama and M.A. and PH.D. degrees in Geography in 1973 and 1977, respectively, from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. I recently retired from Florida A & M University,Tallahassee, Florida where I was engaged in teaching and research for 24 years. From 2000 to 2014, I served as the Director of the Florida A&M University (FAMU) Census Information Center, and from 2013 until my retirement, I taught genealogy workshops. I began research on my family over 30 years ago, but laid it aside. My interest in family history was rekindled by the television program, "Who Do You Think You Are." As a result, I not only intensified my research, but began researching the family history of colleagues and friends. My passion is to help others discover their roots.
