Biography:
I'm a family history researcher, writer and lecturer with thirty years experience. I offer research, writing and digital services for family and local history. I can help you uncover your family's roots and also produce high-quality, design-led books and websites so you can share your discoveries with family and friends. Prior to becoming a professional genealogist, I spent twenty years as a writer, editor and project manager working on high-quality business publications and new media products. I also have solid IT experience gained through content-rich databases and websites. In Writing the Past, I bring these skills to the family history world, aiming to help people further their genealogical research and also preserve it for the future through eye-catching publications and websites. I offer a personal and professional service and believe in going the extra mile to ensure you get the most from our relationship.

Service Description:
My services are in three areas: 1) Genealogy Research: across the UK, focusing especially on Britain's industrial heartland: the six historic counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. I am within easy reach of all the major record offices and repositories in these areas and also have access to online databases, archives, documents and indexes. Research is charged by the hour or according to a pre-agreed fixed price package. 2) Family History Albums: Family history write-ups and albums based on a researcher's notes, photographs and family documents. Albums are professionally presented in a hardback cover. They are an attractive and convenient to share your research with family and friends; they also ensure that your valuable work will be preserved for future generations. 3) Family History Websites: A bespoke website enables you to share your research online while retaining full ownership and control of your valuable data. Full training will be given on how to maintain and update your site as your research grows. I also work with local and family history societies, helping them to organise and present historical information in an engaging way as well as raise revenue through online channels.
