Biography:
I've been keenly interested in my own family history for a long time. My roots are deep in the Orkney islands where I was born and grew up, with a strong Caithness line too. My home is now in Stirling, the historic heart of Scotland. Through my professional background in information management, student services and teaching, I ve gained skills and experience which are very relevant to family history research. To extend and validate my knowledge and practice, I studied for a professional qualification in genealogy. To all that I do, I bring thoroughness, tenacity and enthusiasm.

Service Description:
Janealogy is tailored to your requirements and budget, whether it's a very specific query, a review of research you have done or a full family history over several generations. We'll discuss and clarify at the outset what it is that you want to find out and agree the number of hours' research you want to commission. I'll provide a fully-referenced research report at the end, with interim reports for bigger pieces of work. My focus is Scottish family history but I can also take on English and Welsh research. I particularly like research on Orkney and Stirlingshire families though I cover all of Scotland. If you want to do research yourself, I can work with you to make the most of key sources.
