Caroline is a professional genealogist, historical researcher and speaker, based in Chipping Sodbury, Bristol, England. She studied History at Bristol University, graduating in 1975 with 1st Class Honours. She has nearly 30 years experience in genealogy research, studying original documents in over 20 different British archives. In February 2012 Caroline was commissioned by HSBC, corporate sponsors of the Cutty Sark, to trace living descendants of the crew and other significant people connected to the ship. Her research eventually identified over 600 living descendants, 170 of whom were brought together at a reception on board the Cutty Sark on 24 May 2012. Each descendant was presented with a booklet containing her biographies of their ancestors. Following on from this project, she is now writing a book on the Cutty Sark's crews. Caroline has particular expertise in internet research and in tracing living people. She also undertakes research in archives in Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Somerset. She runs the website Sodbury Genealogy which focuses on a group of South Gloucestershire parishes. Caroline is skilled in analysing complex problems, finding practical solutions and communicating findings clearly. She combines three decades of research experience with a sound understanding of the broader historical context and infectious enthusiasm for her subject.
