Biography:
Helen is an Australian with an English father and fifth generation Australian mother. She has been researching family history since 1986 in England, Australia, Wales and Ireland with forays into Canada, USA, New Zealand and South Africa. Helen is a speaker, researcher and author with a strong interest in medical and social history. She has registered the surname Quested, with the Guild of One Name Studies and has researched them around the world. She has presented on genealogical topics since 1992 in Australia, New Zealand, England, Canada and the USA including RootsTech, Federation of Genealogical Societies Conference, Virtual Genealogical Association conference, Legacy Tree Webinars and on 15 Unlock the Past cruises. She has been actively involved in genetic genealogy since 2011, helping people looking for biological family as well as those trying to make sense of their DNA results. Helen started and is still convenor of the Genealogical Society of Queensland DNA SIG in 2015 and has spoken on DNA nationally and internationally and has run a number of courses on understanding DNA and its uses as an additional tool in Family History research. She is a co-admin for the FB groups: DNA Detectives DownUnder and also Using DNA for Genealogy and Family History Australia & New Zealand.
