Biography:
Wevonneda Minis has researched family history since 1993 and made genealogical presentations since 1999. She traces her Gullah/Geechee ancestors and has documented three slaveholders. Her main focus is African-American and Caucasian families in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, the Bahamas, England, Scotland and the Republic of Guinea, West Africa. Ms. Minis completed Advanced Methodology & Evidence Analysis, Writing and Publishing for Genealogists, and Military Records Research III: 1821-1919,Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research, Samford University, Birmingham, AL; Determining Kinship Reliably with the GPS, Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh, La Roche College; and American Genealogy, the National Genealogical Society. She also wrote "Kinship," a weekly genealogy column for the Post and Courier, Charleston, SC (2007-2011). She is 1st vice president, International Society of Family History Writers and Editors; recording secretary, South Carolina Genealogical Society; and founded Roots and Branches: An African-American Genealogy Project.
