Biography:
I have been researching the history of my family since 1995, but my interest in genealogy extends back into the 1970's, when I was a teenager and my father began a search for his Irish roots. Picking up where he left off, I developed a special interest in tracing the places of origin of my Irish ancestors, and have done the same for many others since. I was a volunteer at the National Archives in Pittsfield, Massachusetts for 3 years, and there I had the opportunity to expand my skills by assisting researchers at the facility, developing and delivering lectures and workshops, and aiding staff in research queries. Currently, I volunteer approx. 10 hours monthly assisting amateur family historians at the Clifton Park Library, Crandall Library in Glens Falls, and The Irish American Heritage Museum. I have been a volunteer transcriptionist for the American-Canadian Genealogical Society for 8 years, which gives me the opportunity to interpret handwritten records in several languages. Aside from tracing Irish ancestors, I also have a strong interest in family history in the upstate area of New York, from the capital of Albany to northern New York counties such as Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Warren and Washington. I began doing research for clients in 2009 as a member of Ancestry's "Expert Connect" and would like to continue this type of work in the future.
