I have published two books:

WANTED! U.S. Criminal Records is a 388-page reference book that lists, state by state, where one can find thousands of sets of historical prison records across the country: prison records, criminal court documents, parole records, pardon records, execution information, investigative files, and more.

The Jews of Sing Sing provides mini-biographies about a dozen Jewish criminals (including my very own great-grandfather) who served time 'up the river' at the famous New York prison. Additionally, the book provides a template for how to conduct genealogy a different way - investigating one person's live in excruciating detail, by collecting as much documentation about him/her as possible. This process allows you to go beyond the questions: Who? When? and Where? You can explore the far more interesting question, Why? Why did our ancestors behave the way that they did?

Both books can be purchased at
