Biography:
I began doing genealogy actively in 1994, as something constructive to do with my degree in history. I have extensive experience doing research in Western, Central, and Northern New York, as well as side experience with Ontario, Quebec, and New England. New York is a tricky state in which to do genealogy, and it's taught me how to get creative when finding difficult ancestors. I also have experience researching Civil War connections (Union), and enjoy doing research not only on the soldiers, but also on their regimental histories. As a trained historian, I am a stickler for documentation and sources, and will provide clients not only with reports on positive results, but also full reports on all sources checked that did not yield results. I am currently self-employed and thus have flexible time for a variety of projects.

Service Description:
General and specific genealogical queries in New York State, with specializations in Western, Central, and Northern New York (no specific experience with NYC), searches of the New York State Vital Records Index (1881-1956), house/property histories considered, records lookups and copying. Extensive experience in old colonial genealogy in New York and New England. Both small and long-term projects accepted. I have experience in Canadian and British genealogy, particularly Ontario, Quebec, and southern England (Hampshire. I have no expertise in adoption, genetic genealogy or recent immigration and will refer these cases elsewhere. Experience with lineage paperwork for Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Reasonable rates.
