Marissa J. Gardner, AG®

Summary Tab
Extended Tab

Marissa Gardner lives in Salt Lake City, Utah with her husband, Nate. She works as a freelance genealogy researcher and her husband teaches sixth grade at the local elementary school. Marissa has been passionate about family history since an early age. As a small child, she spent hours trying to memorize details from her 4-generation pedigree chart and loved to hear stories about the 'good old days' from elderly family members. At the age of 15, she began going to the local Family History Center to help her mom do family research.
In college, Marissa studied music and math before finally settling on family history. Her professors told her that she was a natural and she quickly developed skills in researching in a variety of record types and in several different regions of the world. Since her graduation in 2005, Marissa has worked for companies such as Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation, ProGenealogists, Inc., and Venio, LLC.
Marissa earned her accreditation in Germanic research in 2011, which allows her to testify in kinship hearings as an expert witness. She has also started lecturing at genealogy conferences (see Upcoming Lectures on her website for her speaking schedule). Marissa's primary focus as a genealogist is conducting client research because she loves to be personally involved in helping individuals and families connect with their roots and get to know their ancestors.
