Biography:
Information professional providing genealogical and other information services including searches for specific information, research analysis and evaluation, problem solving and search consultation, report writing, and editing. Specializing in English-language Canadian and Nova Scotian genealogical research, Scottish roots and migration to Canada, and full family research. Over thirty years experience researching personal family history. Conducts research at Library and Archives Canada, local repositories in the Ottawa area, as well as provincial and local repositories in Nova Scotia. Has provided scientific information to a wide variety of clients, taught computerized information retrieval courses, designed educational materials, enumerated census data, conducted independent research and provided administrative assistance to small business. Has interviewed clients to determine their information needs, conducted follow-up searches for general and specific information, written research reports, and been active as a volunteer on educational issues. Presently enrolled in two programs at the National Institute for Genealogical Studies in partnership with the University of Toronto, leading to a Certificate in Genealogical Studies - Canadian Records and a Certificate in Genealogical Studies - Scottish Records. Currently a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), Ontario Chapter APG, National Genealogical Society, Ontario Genealogical Society, Genealogical Association of Nova Scotia; The British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa, and other local historical and genealogical societies.
