Biography:

Deborah A. Carder Mayes is a professional genealogist, speaker, writer, and researcher. She has been doing genealogical research and been actively involved in the genealogical community for over 22 years. She frequently speaks on a variety of genealogical and historical topics and presents various workshops and seminars throughout the year. She primarily researches in West Central Ohio and the Miami Valley. She wrotes a monthly column, Beyond the Obituaries, for The In-Depth Genealogist online magazine (www.theindepthgenealogist.com). She was the editor of Allen County Ancestry, the newsletter of the Allen County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society and currently writes a blog, Rambling Along the Ancestral Trail, (http://cardermayes.weebly.c...). She was a lesson grader for the NGS American Genealogy: A Home Study Course from 2009 through 2014 when it was replaced with the American Genealogical Studies course that uses a digital Learning Management System instead of graders. Currently, she is the registrar for the Lima, Ohio chapter, DAR, the Patriotic Instructor for the Lizabeth A. Turner Tent of the Daughters of Union Civil War Veterans, Lima, Ohio, and the Central Region Director of the International Society of Family History Writers and Editors.
