Biography:
Susan Sloan,a native Atlantan, is a professional genealogist whose areas of concentration are conducting private lineage research,preparing lineage society applications, and teaching family history classes. She also speaks to historical groups and lineage societies. In August of 2010 she was a featured speaker at the Federation of Genealogical Societies National Conference, speaking on the topic of using Georgia's Land Lotteries to prove family relationships. Susan is a member of seven lineage societies and has held several officer positions. She currently is Historian of James Waldrop Chapter DAR in Fayetteville, GA and Vice President of James Edward Oglethorpe Chapter Daughters of the American Colonists. Susan has authored articles in several journals including the Georgia Genealogical Society Quarterly, the Florida Genealogist, the Olde Mecklenburg County (NC) Genealogical Society Quarterly, The Rice Planter (newsletter for Old St. Bartholomew Chapter SC Genealogical Society,and The Appalachiana. Susan holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from Georgia State University. She is a member of Georgia Professional Genealogists, the Association of Professional Genealogists, serves as President of the Georgia Genealogical Society and Trustee of the R. J. Taylor, Jr. Foundation. She is a past President of the Georgia Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists.

Service Description:
Susan is dedicated to spreading her enthusiasm for tracing family history in a variety of ways. She is an Atlanta native and professional genealogist whose areas of concentration are teaching family history classes, conducting private lineage research, and preparing lineage applications. She has taught family history research classes in several locations, giving over 120 presentations and classes 35 different venues. She also offers private lineage research services for people who want their family history researched by a professional genealogist. DAR and SAR lineage applications are among her specialties.
